When using Shopify as your platfrom you can use email and SMS marketing to grow your business and build strong relationships wih your customers. Sending newsletters to your customers who sign up to email marketing can increase your sales. This is also a great way to notify your subscribers of new products and upcoming sales.

When collecting customers contact details...

It is very important for legal and privacy reasons, to only send promotional content to customers who have agreed to receive it from you. If your online store has a news-letter sign up, customers are able to sign up using this by providing their contact details there.

Once your customers accept marketing from your online store, their email adress/phone number is displayed on your customers page on your Shopify dashboard.

Step by step on how to collect customers data at the checkout:

1. On your Shopify dashboard head over to your setting and once you are displayed with a drop down select 'Checkout'

2. To add sign-up checkbox to your checkout, in the email marketing section, look for 'Show an option to subscribe at checkout'.

3. Optional: Check Preselect the option to check the email marketing sign-up check box at the checkout by default for customers without an account or customers who are on your email subscription list. The email marketing sign-up check box isn't checked for customers who have opted out of email marketing or who aren't on your email subscription list.

4. Don't forget to click 'Save'
